The most beautiful portraits are not the result of perfect lighting or the most expensive equipment — they emerge when a person feels genuinely at ease. Everything I do before and during our session is designed to create that ease.
The Week Before
Begin thinking about what you want to feel in these images, not just how you want to look. Are you drawn to something quiet and contemplative? Joyful and candid? Elegant and composed? There are no wrong answers — only yours.
If you have a partner or family joining you, share that feeling with them. When everyone arrives with the same emotional intention, it shows in the images.
On Wardrobe
Wear what genuinely makes you feel like yourself. Clothes that fit well and feel comfortable are far more important than clothes that are technically fashionable. Neutral tones and textures — cream, stone, navy, forest — tend to age beautifully in photographs.
Avoid very bold patterns or logos, which can distract from faces. And bring one or two alternatives — it costs nothing, and the variety can be beautiful.
On the Day Itself
Arrive well-rested and unhurried. If your session is in the morning, have a calm breakfast. If it is in the afternoon, avoid anything that might cause stress beforehand.
Do not worry about directions. I will guide you throughout. You do not need to know how to be photographed — that is my responsibility, not yours.
What to Expect
We will begin slowly. I will show you where to stand, how the light falls, what I am looking for. The first fifteen minutes are always an adjustment — and that is completely normal. By the end of the first half hour, most of my clients forget the camera is there at all.
That is exactly when the best images happen.
If you have specific questions before your session, please do not hesitate to write. I am always happy to talk through anything that would help you feel more prepared.
